Driving by a mechanic shop, I saw a sign posted saying "Maintenance is a lot cheaper than repairs". While this saying applies to cars, I started thinking about how this expression really applies to our body.
It is common knowledge that if we take care of our cars by getting the oil changed and tires rotated, the car will last much longer and we can avoid costly repairs. The idea of maintaining good health is not, however, something many of us think about. We grow up thinking we should only go to the doctor when we are sick, but what about when we aren't sick? It is so important that we take care of our bodies like we do our cars. Between work, school, family, and other stressors, we can't keep going at maximum speed without the need for repairs.
In my clinic, I often see patients who have waited until they are "broken" and in need of a lot of repairs rather than just a little "tune-up". While I can often help the ones that are "broken", it is a lot quicker and easier to help those that just need a little "tune-up". Makes sense, right? If we are proactive about our healthcare, we can avoid ending up in an emergency situation and left with hefty bills.
We can maintain good health and prevent future illness by getting regular acupuncture and treating underlying root issues with Chinese herbal medicine. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can help to keep your body functioning at an optimal capacity by improving blood flow to every area of your body and improving the way your organs function. Chinese pulse diagnosis can reveal subtle dysfunctions in the body that can be fixed before they turn into bigger or even life-threatening situations. Treat your body like an expensive car and it will thank you big time!
