Write Out Loud!

Journaling can free your mind of its burdens and bring your thoughts into focus, signaling to your brain "this is important!" Journaling can bring out thoughts and ideas you never knew you had in you. Writing your thoughts down awakens your expressive muscles, improves how you communicate with others, uplifts your own personal self-esteem, and offers you the building blocks to a foundation that promotes healing.

Evoking Mindfulness

How many times have you heard the phrase, "be present in the moment" or "stay mindful"? There is a significant tie between mindfulness and overall happiness. Journaling brings you into a state of the here and now, a state of mindfulness. This act of giving your words voice, without needing there to be a spectator, can help release past frustrations and present fears (which are the most common causes of anxiety).

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence is the ability to perceive your own emotions as well as the emotions of others. Journaling can help you manage your emotions and gain a deeper insight of others by increasing self-awareness and allowing you to play out different scenarios. This new way of exploring emotions can help familiarize yourself, and bridge the gap between what you're feeling, versus how others may be internalizing. Learning how to bridge this gap of empathy can make you more intuitive and provide you understanding of what others are experiencing. This allows you to form deeper connections and more meaningful relationships.

Self-Confidence

Journaling about a positive experience allows your brain to breathe and release buried thoughts and emotions weighing you down. Surfacing these thoughts and experiences can be therapeutic and initiate healing. These moments of reflection can bring about memories of personal achievement, promote new perspectives to unsolved conflicts, and inspire new goals or pathways in life. The release of endorphins and dopamine will boost your self-esteem and mood. As you work to incorporate journaling into your life, be patient and consistent with the process. As with anything, practice and consistency are crucial in forming new habits.
