Living with a painful condition like fibromyalgia can greatly affect your quality of life. Walking around in constant pain can be very depressing, exhausting, and overwhelming. It makes it extremely difficult to even find enjoyment in normal activities.

Thankfully, acupuncture successfully treats a wide variety of painful ailments, including fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is usually caused by one of two problems. For most patients, fibromyalgia pain is due to stagnant blood flow. If you have poor circulation and a weak heart, this causes pain throughout the body. The second problem seen in fibromyalgia patients is there is insufficient blood to nourish the muscles, leading to pain. With Chinese medicine, we identify the unique pattern causing each condition, which is why it is so successful. We treat the conditions of the blood, heart and circulatory system, the underlying root cause of the fibromyalgia pain, using blood moving or tonifying herbs as well as acupuncture to improve blood flow and reduce pain.

One of the most significant and positive aspects of using acupuncture to treat ailments, is that it is a safe and natural alternative to using dangerous drugs, that in many cases can cause unwanted symptoms, and even more damage than good!

Sham acupuncture involved using the same guide tubes as the genuine acupuncture group, but without inserting needles. The sham treatment solely focused on the dorsal and lumbar regions. At the 10-week mark, the tailored acupuncture group reported a 41% drop in pain, whereas the sham acupuncture group reported a 27% reduction. Twelve months later, the tailored group continued to report much better results and pain reduction that the sham group.
