Grain-Free/Dairy-Free Hot Breakfast Cereal

Many of my patients who have food allergies or sensitivities to gluten, wheat, dairy, and eggs, especially have a hard time figuring out what to eat for breakfast. Additionally, patients trying to lose weight often struggle with finding something for breakfast that satisfies their carb and sugar cravings. If either or both of these scenarios describes you, or if you are simply wanting a low-carb paleo-friendly healthy breakfast recipe, keep reading to find out how you can make this easy grain-free hot breakfast cereal!

Ingredients:

  • 2 TBSP unsweetened coconut flakes

  • 2 TBSP finely chopped walnuts or pecans

  • 1 TBSP flaxseed meal

  • 1 TBSP almond flour

  • 1/2 TBSP chia seeds

  • 1/2 cup almond milk (or any dairy-free milk)

  • 1/8 tsp pumpkin pie spice (or ground cinnamon)

  • dash of organic vanilla extract

  • pinch of himalayan salt

  • 1 tsp honey

Directions:

Combine coconut flakes, walnuts, flaxseed meal, almond flour, chia seeds, himalayan salt, and pumpkin pie spice in a small bowl and mix.


Heat almond milk until bubbling. Stir in the dry ingredients and add a dash of vanilla extract and honey. This recipe makes one serving.


Optional:

Add a few blueberries, raspberries or strawberries and top with 1 TBSP of no-sugar added cashew or almond butter.


Tip: Combine all the dry ingredients ahead of time and place in a bag or container so all you have to do is heat up the coconut milk and stir. This makes for a hassle-free, speedy and healthy breakfast!!
