Research has proven that acupuncture can help to improve vision in patients suffering with degenerative eye diseases. Unfortunately, western medicine does not provide many solutions to treating degenerative vision loss, leaving patients discouraged and fearful that they will eventually lose their sight completely. In addition, conventional treatments including eye injections and surgery are highly-invasive, come with a lot of side-effects, may only be a temporary solution, and can sometimes make the problem even worse.
Degenerative eye disorders, such as macular degeneration, are often age-related and caused by a lack of blood flow, oxygen and nutrients to the eyes. Diet, lifestyle factors, and nutritional deficiencies can also play a major factor in the development of these eye diseases.
Loss of vision can be caused by a variety of factors including:
Genetic predisposition
Oxidative stress
Metabolic diseases (i.e. diabetes)
Poor blood circulation
Overuse of the eyes
Sedentary lifestyle
Overwork
Dehydration
Excessive alcohol, tobacco or drug use
Poor diet
Acupuncture can help approximately 85-90% of patients with vision loss by increasing blood flow, oxygen and nutrients to the eyes (addressing the root cause). Acupuncture also reduces optic nerve inflammation and stimulates the visual cortex of the brain. Acupuncture needles are hair-thin, sterile, single-use and disposable, and no more than a pinch is usually felt. Acupuncture points for vision loss are mainly located around the eyebrows, hands and ankles, NEVER in the eyes. Once the tiny needles are inserted, you simply relax on the warm treatment table for 30 minutes and take a wonderful nap. Treatment is typically twice a week for 6 weeks, with maintenance treatments recommended 1-2 times per month.
In Chinese medicine, we don't only treat the eyes, we also treat the internal process causing the problem. Additionally, we address dietary and lifestyle factors, so you can achieve the best results.
