Studies are showing more and more the many benefits of CBD. In this article we will focus on the ways CBD oil can aid in improving, preventing, and helping rid the body of may common ailments.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of over 80 cannabinoids, natural compounds found in the Cannabis plant. Unlike THC, CBD does not produce psychoactive effects, which means you do not het “high” like you would from THC properties found in marijuana.
CBD Oil is showing more and more promise as a legitimate treatment for a variety of conditions that are otherwise untreatable.
1. CBD Oil Helps Reduce Anxiety.
Researchers suggest that CBD Oil may be effective for reducing anxiety, social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, and significantly reduces anxiety caused by public speaking.
2. CBD Oil and Cream Aid in Reducing Pain
Research is suggesting more and more that cannabinoids may be a new class of drugs for the treatment of chronic pain. Studies have found that CBD significantly decreases chronic inflammation and neuropathic pain in rodents. It’s also been shown that that CBD and opioids act together to relieve pain.
3. CBD Can Help with Epileptic Seizures
CBD may be a promising therapy for treatment-resistant epilepsy.
84% of parents with children that have treatment-resistant epilepsy have reported a significant reduction in their child’s seizure frequency while taking CBD. After just 3 months being treated with a purified 98% oil-based CBD extract, 39% of these children had a more than a 50% reduction in seizures.
Another study in early 2014 shown in a CNN documentary by Sanjay Gupta, M.D. pointed out the anti-epileptic properties of cannabis. He focused on a young child who had intractable seizures. Several years earlier, Dr. Mechoulam described an experiment by Paul F. Consroe and colleagues in Brazil where CBD was tested as a treatment for intractable epilepsy. Patients added 200 mg/day of CBD or a placebo, and were followed over the course of several months. It was shown that majority had none to far fewer episodes.
4. May Help Protect Against Bacteria
CBD has shown some antimicrobial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), a bacterium that can cause difficult-to-treat infection.
5. Can Lower the Occurrence of Diabetes
Cannabidiol can inhibit the destruction of insulin-producing pancreatic cells. Studies have shown that CBD significantly reduces the development of diabetes in mice by 86%!
6. CBD Oil Helps Fight Cancer
CBD and other chemicals found in Cannabis have anti-tumor abilities. Studies have shown that it successfully stopped cancer cells in multiple different cervical cancer cells, and increased the death of tumor cells in leukemia and colon cancer.
Cannabinoids may also be a great aid in combination therapy for breast and prostate cancer, because of their direct anti-tumor abilities, and their ability to improve the effectiveness of anti-tumor drugs.
CBD has also shown to decrease the ability for cancer cells to produce energy, which ultimately leads to their death!
7. CBD May Protect From Alzheimer’s & Parkinson’s Diseases
CBD may protect brain cells from beta-amyloid toxicity, making it a great candidate helping treat Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
Early studies are showing improvement in patients with Parkinson’s disease treated with 100–600 mg/day of CBD over a 6-week period. It is also proving to be helpful in reversing the cognitive deficits of Alzheimer’s disease in animal models.
8. CBD May Be Beneficial in Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis and Other Inflammatory Diseases
Due to its anti-inflammatory effect, may provide decrease joint degeneration, and offer relief of joint pain and swelling from arthritis and other inflammations.
The first controlled trial has shown that over the course of treatment, the administration of Sativex produced significant improvements in intensity of pain on movement and at rest, quality of sleep, and inflammation with no serious side effects.
9. May Provide Treatment for Acne
CBD decreases lipid synthesis and proliferation, and has anti-inflammatory effect on sebaceous glands, resulting in the potential use as a therapeutic aid in the treatment of acne.
10. Cannabidiol Can Help with IBD
Research studies have confirmed that CBD prevents colitis in animal models of IBD.
11. CBD Promotes Bone Growth
A study on 2009 showed that in age-related osteoporosis, cannabinoid receptors will increase peak bone mass and bone marrow. Observations throughout the study demonstrate that the CB1 receptor regulates peak bone mass through effects of osteoclasts, bone resorption and age-related bone loss. This means that the administered CBD helped to strengthen the fracture callus; the cartilage which mends the fracture.
12. CBD Oil May Be Able to Help Quit Smoking
A 2014 study out of University College London found the group using CBD wound up smoking less cigarettes, and experienced a reduction in cravings. The CBD group smoked 40% less cigarettes after one week. “We found that CBD seems to reduce the salience of cues. It also can reduce anxiety and may affect a memory process called ‘reconsolidation,’ which is where when a memory of the reward of smoking is re-activated by seeing someone smoking, it is rendered vulnerable to destruction," says Dr. Celia Morgan, co-author of the study. “CBD might mean these positive smoking memories are gradually erased.”
13. CBD Oil Can Help Treat Insomnia
Research suggests that taking CBD before bed improves sleep.
